The UK government runs the risk of losing all its citizens as Education Minister Nicky Morgan warns of yet another ‘lost generation’ if the UK follows through with its Brexit plans.
Following on from Thatcher’s lost generation, the generations lost to recessions in the nineties and noughties and the one lost down the back of the sofa by John Prescott, the UK were hopeful of keeping hold of the current generation so there is at least someone left to run the place.
Morgan has waded into the referendum debate by adding her voice to the in campaign and recalling with fondness her own experience of inter-railing and summer’s spent with her German pen pal.
In her latest speech warning of the dangers of Brexit she made a point of reaching out directly to young people by claiming this was the age of ‘The Twitters and the Facebooks” before rapping the final three paragraphs to a beatbox track.
The Tory favourite has managed to put a difficult couple of weeks behind her following her limp defence of the budget and her heckling at a Teacher’s Union Conference this weekend by reaching out to an audience of the country’s deepest thinkers at the UK Fashion Academy.
A department colleague said, “She might look like George Osborne in drag but she is standing up for the youth of this country. There are thousands of unskilled jobs that nobody wanted 5 years ago and so we had to fill them with immigrant labour but with the changes Nicky is making to Education she’s ensuring that future generations will be so unqualified they’ll be glad of anything.”
“Nicky has rightly pointed out that the prospects for thousands of young people will be ruined by leaving the EU and as everyone knows that’s our job……..to protect them that is.”
Before adding, “with their YouTubes and their Instagram's.”
